The world is a playground for this 2 day old lamb. The newest arrival at Shepherd's Cove enjoyed his first sunny Spring day with the flock. MillerLite is a cross bred Border Leister/Romney ram (male). Already he's showing characteristics of a beautiful fleece-just perfect for hand spinning!

This pic was sent in by SCBOA member Churutabis Farm.

Pictured here is one of 101 guinea- keets (chicks) that arrived at their farm mid April. The keets will be raised on Churutabis farm for about 13 weeks.  The next 102 will be here in middle of May.

These birds originated in Africa and have a long history of domestication. They belong to a family of insect and seed-eating, ground-nesting birds that resemble partridges, but with featherless heads.
They eat lice, worms, ants, spiders, weedseeds, and ticks while on range or they can also eat chicken layer crumbles (one kind of commercial bird food) while housed in a coop. All guineafowl are social, and typically occur in small groups. Adult birds sport beautifully patterned plumage.

Just for fun. Just about everyone remembers blowing on these puffs and watching the seeds float on the breeze. Dandelions are edible and are thought to have medicinal properties.
